Infrastructure for Economic Opportunity
Reliable transportation is more than a convenience—it is an essential bridge to economic opportunity. As your County Legislator, I believe that no resident of the Town of Newburgh or Orange County should lose a job opportunity or spend hours on a difficult commute simply because they do not have access to a personal vehicle. My legislative work focuses on building a modern, efficient, and equitable transit system that serves the needs of working families, students, and seniors alike.
Legislative Agenda for Transit & Infrastructure
Our office is advocating for a strategic approach to county-wide connectivity:
- Expanding Bus Service: Prioritizing the expansion of routes to underserved neighborhoods in District 16 to ensure better access to essential services and employment.
- Reduced-Fare Advocacy: Pushing for the implementation of reduced-fare programs specifically designed to support low-income residents, students, and our senior community.
- Workforce Connectivity: Working to improve direct transit connections between residential areas and major regional employment centers.
- Commuter Comfort & Safety: Supporting the installation of covered bus shelters and improved lighting at high-traffic stops to ensure safety and comfort in all weather conditions.
- Regional Transit Coordination: Collaborating with regional partners to improve coordination between local and regional transit systems, reducing wait times and streamlining transfers.
- Transit-Oriented Development: Promoting smart-growth policies that encourage housing and commercial development near transit hubs to create more walkable, sustainable communities.
